Our Honeymoon

Following our picture perfect wedding day, Kevin and I honeymooned in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We left the morning following our wedding after spending the night at the nearby Foxburg Inn, which Kevin and I have both grown to love. We like to call Foxburg our getaway – the Inn is absolutely gorgeous and sits right along the Allegheny River.

Here is a picture of Kevin and I leaving the Foxburg Inn the morning we left for Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

We had a nice drive to Tennessee. Kevin loves to drive, and I love to ride. I tried to stay awake most of the trip, but when I’m riding in a car I almost always have trouble staying awake. It was a lot easier to stay awake this particular trip, however! Thanks to the lovely paint job on our car, we had people honking at us the entire way to Tennessee! We even had a few people roll down their windows to hoot, holler, and give us the thumbs up. It was a fun experience! We even had a conversation with a man at a stoplight who told us he and his wife have been married for over 30 years. It was actually very sweet!

We arrived in Gatlinburg around 10:00 that evening. We had to go downtown to get the check-in information for our cabin. We thought it would be a piece of cake to find our cabin, but unfortunately it wasn’t that easy. Our cabin was about ten minutes outside of town, on a hill, in the middle of the Smokey Mountains. It took us about an hour to find our cabin, because the cabin name was hidden by a bush, and also keep in mind we were driving around in the dark. Our TomTom wasn’t much help, but low and behold, we finally found our cabin. What a journey!

Our cabin’s name was “Happily Ever After” which we both found fitting for our honeymoon!

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge had so many things to do. I won’t lie – Kevin and I spent a lot of our time sleeping…something we both were lacking and hadn’t had much of a chance to do all summer. We also shopped a lot! Ladies, I am a lucky woman – Kevin loves to shop even moreso than I do, he could shop all day! We did some mini-golf (I beat him by more than a few strokes) and we did some tourist-y things like the Ripley’s Aquarium, the Hollywood Wax Museum, and a few other things. We also got to eat a lot of amazing food! It was a great honeymoon and most importantly Kevin and I got to spend time with each other, something that we both can’t get enough of!
