We are so blessed and fortunate to not only be expecting another baby boy this fall, but we’ll hopefully be able to reuse almost everything we have from when Jonah was born. As you probably recall, Jonah was born in early December. This baby is due the very last week of October. If this little peanut is anywhere close to Jonah’s size when he is born, we will hopefully be able to reuse most, if not all, of Jonah’s newborn clothing and have the seasons match up! Yes, every child is different. I realize that it may not work out as perfectly as I am currently imagining. Jonah stayed true to size for the most part with his age. I guess we’ll see how things pan out!
While we plan on using most of the things we had from when Jonah was born, there are a few new things we’ll be adding to our baby collection. It’s so exciting to be doing this again…I absolutely love finding and researching new baby products. Nerd? Yes. Yes, definitely a nerd. Here are some of the major things we’ll be needing for our newest addition:
This particular stroller is a Baby Trend Sit n’ Stand
. We had this
infant carrier with Jonah, and still use the stroller as it came as a travel system. We LOVE the stroller…the wheels are the absolute best. I glides so nicely and can handle any terrain. We’re leaning toward this Baby Trend Sit n’ Stand Double Stroller simply because we like the brand, and our infant carrier is compatible with it. The baby can be up front, while Jonah is in the back. The back piece also comes off so that when Jonah is a little bit older he has the option to stand in the back while the baby is siting in the front.
My only reservation about this stroller is the wheels. We’re hooked on the huge jogging stroller wheels, and are sad that this stroller doesn’t have them as well. We like that the seats on the stroller are front to back rather than side to side, though we aren’t totally set on the seats needing to be front to back.
Do you have a double stroller? What do you recommend?
How adorable is this Fisher Price Snugapuppy Baby Swing
? With Jonah, we had a hand-me-down swing from my aunt and uncle. It was in great condition – practically brand new! It didn’t have the option to be plugged in, though, so we naturally went through a TON of batteries. As I’m sure you already know, larger batteries are not cheap! We used it A LOT, and feel as though an upgrade will be worth it. This swing can plug into the wall, so you don’t have to worry about eating through batteries. I could be wrong, but I’m thinking that I’ll be using the swing downstairs a lot more than we did the first time around because now I’ll have a toddler to chase around. Baby can nap in this super plush swing, and it has many different positions to utilize as the baby grows. Plus, the puppy is just adorable…definitely a plus!
Rock n’ Play
Since I’m a fan of things matching, this Snugapuppy Rock n’ Play Sleeper
is the next thing on our list! The Rock n’ Play was a life saver with Jonah. It was the only way we got any sleep, especially when he was around 3 months old. We had just a basic Rock n’ Play with Jonah…so we’ve decided to again go for the upgrade this time around. We like this one because it vibrates. We had a vibrating baby seat that Jonah LOVED and he almost always fell asleep while in it. We’re hoping that this has the same effect on the baby at night. The only caution with sleepers such as this is that sometimes baby can develop a flattened head. We were vigilant with watching Jonah’s head to be sure this wasn’t happening. We’ll be the same way this time, and may even invest in a special pillow that helps prevent babies from getting flattened heads (Plagiocephaly).
Did your baby love the Rock n’ Play?
Baby Floor Gym
We still have this
floor gym from when Jonah was a baby, but we’d like to give a few more options – and we especially love that baby can kick the little piano at the end of this mat! This is the Fisher Price Kick and Play Piano Gym
. It transitions with baby, and he’ll hopefully get more use out of it when he’s older and able to sit up. Once Jonah could roll over, he was pretty uninterested in his little floor mat. There are a few others that have caught my eye, like the Infantino Grow with Me Activity Gym
that turns into a ball pit!
We had a few Halo Sleepsacks
(that swaddle) with Jonah. He wasn’t a huge fan, but this baby might be! Wombies
are something we didn’t try with Jonah, but I am going to order one of these and see how they work out with the new baby. I’ve heard really good things about them and am excited to see if the baby will like them.
Aden & Anais Swaddling Blankets
I never got into the Aden & Anais brand with Jonah. This time around though, I am getting my feet wet…and am already hooked! I have two swaddle blankets for the new baby by Aden & Anais and they are AMAZING. How did I not have these with Jonah? Anyway, I plan to stock up and feed my newest baby addiction. I’m also a member of an Aden & Anais group on Facebook with super talented Mommies that make custom blankets for little ones. Yikes. I see myself doing some damage in this department. I know that I will NOT be buying any cotton receiving blankets. We had so many with Jonah and never used any of them. Plus, they didn’t swaddle well. These Aden & Anais swaddles are stretch and amazing…and I cannot wait to wrap up baby boy in them!
Going Home Outfit
I have my heart set on an outfit like this to bring baby home in. We’re going to go all out though, and get the receiving blanket, too. Just incase you were wondering, Sawyer is not the baby’s name…but this is the style of outfit we like! It’s from the SimplyBocaBaby
Etsy shop, and I’ve had my eye on it for months now!
Aside from other smaller things, these are the major things I’d like to get out of the way before baby comes. Did you change things up the second time around? Let’s talk in the comments!
