A Fun Fall Weekend

With this being Jonah’s last weekend as an only-child, we decided to pack it full of fun things for our little sweetie to enjoy! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, and I hope that our children grow to love it and appreciate it just as much as I do. Unfortunately, Kevin has been busy with Marching Band this weekend. Friday night he taught all day and then had a football game all evening. He didn’t get home until almost 1:00 that morning. Yesterday, the Marching Band had their final competition of the year, and again, he didn’t get home until almost 1:00 in the morning after leaving the house around 10:00 that morning. Talk about long days, huh?

Saturday, my mom and sister, Beth, came down for the day to help out with some Fall festivities. We had movies playing in the background, we baked and decorated pumpkin sugar cookies, and we also helped Jonah carve his first pumpkin!

He was all about the baking of cookies. In fact, I think he liked icing them even a little bit more 🙂 Let’s just not dwell on the fact that he was trying to down the icing by the spoonful. Stinker!
After the cookies were all baked and frosted, we carved Jonah’s first pumpkin. He absolutely hated it. Hah! We opened it up and he thought it was the grossest thing he had ever seen. After encouraging him to reach his hand inside to scoop out some seeds, he said, “Ewww!” over and over again, and downright refused to touch any part of the pumpkin. Eventually, he did come around and starting flinging the pumpkin guts around the kitchen (with a spoon of course) and even helped make a face in his pumpkin. Here’s a picture of the final result 🙂

Today, we spent some time with our good friends, the Normans. Their daughter, Olivia, is a month younger than Jonah. We absolutely love spending time with them and even though we don’t get together as much as I wish we could (living so far away from everyone really stinks!) we definitely cherish the time we do get to spend together 🙂

This afternoon, we took Jonah and Olivia to a Pumpkin Patch not too far from our house. It was a lot of fun and the kids had a great time! It was especially nice to have Kevin home since Jonah hasn’t really seen him since Thursday evening 🙂

As I’m sure you can tell from the photos, we had a wonderful time! What did you do this weekend?
