10 Christmas Albums for your Listening Pleasure

Let’s just talk for a second about how Thanksgiving is two weeks from tomorrow. TWO WEEKS! Our sweet little Luca was three weeks old yesterday. Why does life go so fast? I would really love for it to slow down, just a little bit 🙂

If you are one of those people who refuse to acknowledge Christmas-anything until after Thanksgiving, you might want to do yourself a favor and just stop reading. However, if this is you:
I’m pretty sure we’re soul mates. Each year on November 1, I officially pull out and begin listening to ALL of the Christmas music. There are so many amazing songs, one month is just not enough for me to get my fix of something I wait ALL year for. (Yes, ALL year.) Okay, let’s face it. Every artist records their own rendition of the same Christmas classics (with a few originals thrown in for good measure). But let’s face it, that’s what makes each song so different and so very amazing! (Sort of like pizza. I could eat pizza every night of the week from a different place, and it’s like a whole new and different meal.)
So, without further adieu, here are my all-time favorite Christmas albums 🙂
John Williams is a musical genius. I cannot get enough of this movie (I may or may not have watched it more than a handful of times already) and I cannot get enough of the soundtrack either. It’s what I listen to most when I’m driving in the car.
Swoon. Not only is Michael insanely handsome, his voice is amazing. I know this album like the back of my hand, because it is another one of my staples for the Christmas season!
I’m not the biggest fan of country these days (there are some exceptions that you’ll see below), but this is seriously a classic. This album brings back so many memories from my childhood. This was the album playing in the background of probably every Christmas that I can remember. When I hear these songs, it takes me back and brings a tear to my eye.
You can’t go wrong with Jim Brickman. He is an insanely talented pianist, and his songs are just beautiful. I could listen to this album all day, every day.
Here is one of the exceptions I talked about. Lady A’s “On This Winter’s Night” is phenomenal. My favorite song from this album is their version of Silent Night mixed with Lord of my Light. Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.
You can’t go wrong with Bing! Bing Crosby is perhaps one of the most well-known artists as far as Christmas songs go. This album in particular is my favorite of his. There’s just something about his voice 🙂
Another voice I absolutely LOVE! This album has a special performance by Chris Botti (an amazing trumpet player that Kevin and I have seen in concert a few times) which makes it even better 🙂
Christmas just isn’t Christmas without Manheim 🙂
Another amazing voice. You guys, I just can’t get enough of his sultry (yet sweet) tunes!
Kicking it back old school with this Relient K album…one of my absolute favorites!
What are your favorite Christmas songs and/or albums? I’d love to hear your favorites so I can give them a listen and add them to my never-ending Christmas playlist 🙂

  1. It's not Christmas until I put on the NSYNC Christmas album–I love some '90s boy bands! We also have the Bing Crosby album in the original vinyl (I stole it from my parents), and whenever we play it around my dad, he loves to scream, "WIFE BEATER!" since (apparently) Bing was an abusive husband and father, and my sister and I roll our eyes since he says this EVERY.SINGLE.TIME we hear "White Christmas.". Totally, totally a weird story about my family, but it's not Christmas until that happens!

  2. I've never heard of Jim Brickman or Dave Barnes and haven't listened to the Relient K album, but the rest of these are definitely in my rotation each December! One you forgot that I absolutely love is Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas! 🙂 I also love Transiberian Orchestra!

  3. Mariah Carey's christmas album has always been my favorite.. maybe it's just nostalgia now. 🙂 I haven't started listening bc I feel like it's going to stress me out this year. There's so much left to do.. but the end is so close!

  4. Oh I looooove that you shared these! Now I'm REALLY dying to pull out the Christmas tunes! Michael Buble's Christmas album is one of my fave's as well! I also LOVE Josh Groban's, Bing Crosby (takes me back in time, love it!) and you should really look into Trans Siberian Orchestra. So fun and such an awesome twist on Christmas music!

  5. So funny! I just started Christmas music like 10 minutes ago! I don't normally start Christmas until after Thanksgiving but I was feeling a little down and it's so soothing.

  6. I love (It must have be Ol') Santa Claus by Harry Connick Jr off of his When My Heart Finds Christmas album. Honestly, I love the entire album but that is my favorite song. Oh and I just learned he has two other Christmas albums, which I have now marked to listen to later on Spotify. 🙂

I also like the 1994 Christmas album by Mariah Carey.

My all time favorite Christmas song though is "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas". Why? I have no clue.

  7. Yipee, new Holiday music tunes!! I LOVE pulling out all my Christmas CDs (yes, I use them for Christmas) and turning them up REALLY loud as we all belt out the tunes!

  8. I listen Christmas music all throughout the year! So much of what I listen to isn't just "Christmas" related and I don't care for anything that mentions snow anyway;) I love the albums from For King & Country, Third Day, Casting Crowns and Disney's Candlelight Processional.

  9. omg Alabama Christmas!! Thistlehair the Christmas Bear has always been top of my list. Michael Buble Christmas is one of my favorites too. And Boney M… and Amy Grant… I love Christmas music!!

  10. My mom loves Steamrollers and my dad loves his Country Christmas, by almost any artist. I'm more of a choir Christmas person but I do love all and any kind of Christmas music, or at least I give it a chance 🙂
